You know those times when something happens to someone and you want to make them feel better, but you don’t know what to do to make them happy? I know what that feels like, and quite frankly, I know how to fix that. It’s a simple solution.
Be happy and they will feel better. Be energetic and smile for them. A simple smile can brighten anyone’s day. A cheerful and encouraging talk can make their day.
You can make them feel better indirectly. You don’t have to really talk to them about their problem. If you can’t do something to fix their problem, then at least do something to make them feel better. So be happy.
One time when someone said something very rude to my girlfriend, calling her a bitch, she started crying. She called me (I wasn’t there, lucky for that person, or I might be in jail right now), and I was at a loss for words. I didn’t know what to do, and really, there was nothing I could do but listen to her. After a while, her crying subsided and we sat in silence. Even though we hardly talked, I still stood ready to listen, letting her know that I was there. After what seemed like an eternity, I finally figured that I had to make her happy, one way or another. It didn’t matter how, just to make it so. I didn’t fix her problem, but what I did was talk about the next day. We planned to go out on a date, and started talking about a bunch of crazy stuff that we can do. It was joking and humorous. It made her feel better. The problem and hurt was still there, but it was shadowed by what I told her and talked to her about.
It was simple. You don’t need to fix everything for everyone, for them to be happy.
A simple smile can make anyone happier.
